Georgia Move Over law was established to enforce safety for police officers, motorists,
emergency personnel’s, active sanitation workers, and utility service workers.
All drivers must move over or reduce the speed to a reasonable speed when the lights of below
types of vehicles are flashing making yellow
, or blue

Violations can result in a fine of no more than $500 for the first offense. Failure to obey the Move Over Law can lead to consequences far more serious than fines. Driver could face criminal charges and civil liability for damages. The penalties for this offense can be severe, including jail time and loss of the driving privilege. The at-fault driver may also have to pay for the victims’ restitution, including damages for medical bills, pain and suffering, and vehicle damages.
